Innovation, reseller growth & AV trends

InFocus in EMEA: How Innovation, Partnerships, and Trust Are Shaping the Future of AV

In the world of audio-visual technology, there are many shifts. InFocus, founded more than three decades ago, continues to hold its position as a trusted name for projectors, displays, and collaboration solutions. One of the driving forces behind this stability and renewed growth in the EMEA region is Daniel Gibson, Sales Director EMEA at InFocus.
We would like to introduce you to the people and the brand. In this edition; Daniel Gibson, his career journey, industry trends, reseller partnerships, and what lies ahead for InFocus and the broader AV market.

A Career built on both operations and sales

Daniel’s journey began in 2001 when he joined InFocus in a planning role. Drawing on Six Sigma methodology, he helped the company improve its forecasting and inventory management. ‘ Those early years gave me a deep appreciation of how planning and sales need to align,’ he recalls. Over time, he moved closer to sales, bridging the gap between operations and customer-facing teams.
This blend of analytical expertise and market insight positioned him well for sales. By 2009, he was managing sales across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Russia, later shifting into interactive displays when InFocus expanded beyond projectors. Now firmly leading sales across EMEA. ‘I’ve seen the industry evolve, and I’ve adapted with it, but my foundation in operations still helps us align strategy with execution.’

Innovation returns to the AV market

‘We’re finally seeing true innovation again,’ he says, pointing to customer demand for seamless, interoperable solutions. Projectors and displays are no longer viewed as standalone devices. Increasingly, they come equipped with Android OS, GoogleTV and mobile compatibility, transforming them into complete solutions rather than endpoints.
Hybrid work and education have accelerated this shift. From video- enabled classrooms to meeting spaces designed for collaboration, AV products now need to deliver both professional- grade performance and consumer- level ease of use.

Sustainability and lifecycle management

Sustainability is also reshaping buying decisions in EMEA. ‘We focus on long lamp life projectors, filter- free designs, and reduced maintenance, which not only lowers cost of ownership but also reduces waste. Longevity matters to both resellers and end users’, Daniel continued, ‘ and it positions InFocus as a leader in eco-friendly AV projectors focusing on green IT strategies.’

The role of resellers in EMEA

Products evolve, one constant factor remains: the importance of resellers. We have relied on trusted reseller partnerships across EMEA to expand our footprint. There was this huge project in Tunisia. A truly perfect example of reseller dedication, countless demonstrations, special product samples, and coordination with local authorities, to secure one of the largest North African wins.
‘ It’s not the quick wins that impress. It’s the sustained collaboration that creates lasting partnerships.’

IN1068SL: Designed for real- world needs

Product innovation at InFocus often reflects the pain points voiced by both resellers and end users. The IN1068SL projector, one of the company’s leading models in EMEA, is a prime example.
‘ We built this model as a high-brightness projector with lens shift and full connectivity, solving installation headaches in bright spaces.’
By balancing performance, cost, and flexibility, the IN1068SL has become a strong choice for resellers seeking versatile solutions and for end users who want reliability without complexity.

Trust, Leadership, and the Next Chapter

Daniel credits InFocus’s longevity to two core principles: openness and collaboration. By encouraging open communication within his team and fostering collaborative relationships with partners, InFocus has built a foundation of trust.
Trust, he notes, takes time to establish in the AV industry. Many brands appear and disappear within a few years, but InFocus’s commitment to its partners has remained constant. Looking ahead, he sees home lifestyle projectors as a promising growth area in EMEA, fueled by consumer demand for entertainment and hybrid work solutions that merge personal and professional use cases.

Building Long-Term Success in AV

Ultimately, Daniel believes that while products matter, relationships are what sustain long-term success. For channel partners, that means moving beyond transactions to build deep, consultative relationships with customers.
By continuously growing its projector and collaboration display portfolio, and staying true to innovation, sustainability, and trusted partnerships, InFocus is shaping the future of AV across EMEA.
