Mondopad Saves Madison County School District Big Money

Mondopad Saves Madison County School District Big Money

Charlene McGee, CIO and Director of Technology for Madison County Schools in Kentucky, talks about why they chose Mondopad, how they use it, and how they achieved such "huge" cost savings in their K-12 school district. The first factor that compelled her to Mondopad was the cost. They had evaluated other video conferencing systems that cost into six figures. When she heard the cost of Mondopad, she thought there was a catch -- but there wasn't one. She knew it would save money and remove time and distance for students as well as for teachers and staff, but there were other huge cost savings they hadn't anticipated. They were also thankful for how Mondopad allows users to use multiple video conferencing brands, including Skype. Plus, the quality is there. Other solutions from Polycom and Tandberg did not provide the quality that they needed, plus the cost was too high for K-12. Mondopad is used in the district's high schools where students become collaborators in the classroom and create documents and lessons -- allowing them to be more innovative. She says "Mondopad is easy enough that any student can use it." Faculty, directors and staff in their school district use Mondopad for professional development. Staff doesn't need to rush out the door and battle traffic. They instead use Mondopad to make video calls into meetings or classes. They also use Mondopad to view archives of professional development courses. Mondopad has helped the district eliminate many bussing and liability issues, saving the district a tremendous amount of money, especially on fuel costs. Plus, lines of communication have been opened to their more remote districts where recruiting teachers can be more difficult. Charlene says they have saved enough money to pay for their Mondopad within the first few months of ownership. The huge savings on fuel and labor costs were something they hadn't even anticipated when they decided to buy a Mondopad. She says "I would definitely recommend the Mondopad for school districts, higher ed, and corporations." When it comes to how it can be used, she says "your imagination is the limit."
